Confused by all the news about cures?
Don't you feel that it is a bit disingenuous from the drug companies to be advertising all these high cost prescriptions on TV then putting all these disclaimers at the end of the ad that there could be all these potential side effects? What is really interesting is that most of the side effects are much worse than the syndrome that the drug purports to cure!
Of course, what is happening is that the drug companies are banking ($$$$) on you asking your doctor for the medication and making sure that the doctor gets enough perks ($$$$) to perscribe it.
Before I am misunderstood, let me clarify that I am not knocking the doctors or the pharmasicts. The medical profession is a very noble and selfless one. The ones who dedicate themselves to helping others and putting others' health before their own comfort are to be commended and looked up to. The field is about curing others and helping them get better.
What we see today, is an industry (not the profession) that has gone out of kilter. Profits are the number one motive of the industry and the search for getting the dollars out of our pockets is paramount. There are enough stories about big money in the industry influencing the FDA, the media and publishing industries and of course the health care establishments.
Unfortuneately, there are also a lot of unscrupulous teams of hucksters riding the wave of distrust of the establishment medical industry with "alternative medicine" attempting to make a quick buck.
But what we are all looking for is unbiased information about cures. Whether these real cures are perscription drugs or natural remedies, we need to know. The touble is it is very difficult to get unbiased information. We also should not begrudge people from making money (reasonably) for providing a service or product. The trick is to avoid useless "cures" that siphon money out of our pockets.
My goal with this blog is to collect information, links, articles and any kind of knowledge about cures and to try to catagorize them. Where research is available and linkable, I will point to it. Since I am not a doctor, I cannot make any recommendations or claims. I will let you draw your own conclusions. Some of you will just trust the FDA, the pharmasudical industry, and the medical establishment. Others will trust only the alternative practitioners. Some will only want prescription drugs, others only prefer natural cures. Some will want a mixture of both.
One caveat, there are tons of information out there and I am sure this blog cannot be a megasite bringing all the information that exists. So bear with me if I don't link to something you have found previously. Just tell me about it and I will take a look.
Also be forewarned that I personally try to avoid putting things in my body that are not necessary. So I tend to prefer the natural cures. But I also understand that people put a lot of junk in their bodies over the years and build up to the disease. And sometimes the wise thing to do is to jump in with a strong prescription or surgery to save the person's life. Not to mention intervention after accidents and catastrophes.
But, really, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. So if you can tune yourself to your body and look out for early symptoms, then maybe, just maybe, natural cures and remedies are really a prevention.
